Does Denim require everyday Wash?

People are quite busy now-a-days and it’s very difficult to take care of clothes. Washing clothes everyday require lots of time and energy that’s why people wear denim as they think it doesn’t require daily wash but most people probably think ‘ denim does not require daily wash’ is a myth. It’s a common question arrived in the mind of denim wears. The Answer to this question is that ‘we can wear denim for three to four wears  without washing’ because of its different fabric material. Some people don’t wash their denim because they love their denim’s and some don’t wash because they are lazy..

Denim originated in 1873 (at that time they were called waist overalls) they are only worn by labourers and miners  at western america. Therefore denim’s fabric is very hard and durable. It is believed that jeans should not be washed regularly as it saves your water and energy.

Big personality like Levi’s CEO and Chief Bergh said that you should not wash your jeans regularly. According to them, ‘spot clean’ method should be used to clean our jeans on perfect spots. Washing jeans can cause damage to the fabric of the jeans which can deteriorate jeans quality. In fact, the company’s CEO Chip Bergh didn’t wash his jeans for 10 years , he said this at an event 5 years ago. At the time, Bergh claimed that he’d refrained from putting his jeans in the washing machine in fear that it would wear down the material.

He also said that “If you talk to real denim aficionados, they will all agree you should never put a pair of jeans in the washing machine,” It turns out that Bergh’s stance on jean-washing is slightly at odds with that of his own brand. As for Bergh’s tactic, they explained that jeans do tend to look better when washed infrequently, which is why some people may choose not to wash them.

Speaking to The Independent, a spokesperson for Levi’s in the UK revealed that although jeans don’t need to be washed that often, putting them in the washing machine once every month is advisable to keep them looking and smelling clean.

Hiut Denim a UK company also said that “Raw denim is best given a good six months before washing. The longer you can leave it, the better your jeans will look.”

This advice from fellow British jeans brand Albam: “There are many thoughts on how to care for your jeans, some say, ‘Wear them ever, wash them never,’ others simply wash them as much as they can. Whichever method you prefer, we have found that wearing them as often as possible gives the best fades.”

Sweden’s Nudie jeans offer this: “Compared to a new pair of dry jeans, the smell of a well-worn pair just before wash is a completely different matter. It’s a smell that could most probably raise the dead. But it’s most definitely the smell of a winner.

If your jeans is Dirty then you can Rub it with Damp Clothes as it will remove stains and to remove its smell, hang your jeans outside on a sunny day.

Still feeling Dirty? That means your Jeans are ready for the wash

San Francisco enthusiasts Tellason has given some instruction on the inside pocket of their jeans  “We did not wash these jeans and neither should you. If you must, turn them inside out, wash with very little soap in cold water and hang to dry.”

The main reason of not washing your jeans regularly is to save the jeans fabrics as before the wash the jeans will look new one but after washing regularly the patterns on jeans like whiskers on the front and honeycomb on the back will catch little fade.  As Nudie Jeans put it, “The outcome depends on how you travel. Sitting around in the office won’t grace the denim as much as if used while repairing motorcycles.” It’s a weird contradiction in some ways – a kind of purist (or overly fussy) regime for a fabric that’s rooted in ideas of the hard-wearing, authenticity of cowboys and lumberjacks.

So, The conclusion is that you can wash your denim after 3-4 wears or just spot-clean it to preserve the jeans quality.  Washing jeans daily can make it old and also fade the dye which will not look good when we’ll wear it. Hard fabric of jeans can give us straight three to four days wear without any complaint.
